More comedy is not always more funny
The five positions describe increasing intervention: a literal report, a lightly framed observation, an obvious joke structure, a large exaggeration, and an absurd alternate reality. That progression is useful for comparison, but audiences may prefer any point on the dial. Restraint can fit a dry voice; absurdity can fit a playful one.
The meter does not measure laughter, quality, or audience response. It is a control metaphor for observing how specificity, personification, scale, incongruity, and world-building can transform the same underlying information.
Read across one premise
Keep the factual core in view while turning the dial. At lower settings the wording stays close to the event. At higher settings the treatment invents consequences, agents, or worlds that could not literally exist. The explanation below every result names that movement directly.
Because every premise has all five levels prewritten, the experiment works without a generation API and offers a stable comparison each time it is revisited.
